Digital Detox

I did a digital detox last weekend. I felt very disconnected from my family and friends since I was not communicating over the phone with them. I had FOMO there. I felt a lot more productive and did not waste as much time on social media. I was able to see how harmful social media can be on our ability to work.

Making a Teacher Bitmoji!

Image
Today I made my Teacher Bitmoji on the Bitmoji app. It was a lot of fun to play around with the settings to try and make the most accurate Bitmoji. I really enjoyed trying on a bunch of different outfits. I picked a yellow romper and some sandals as my teacher outfit. I think this is a fun tool that can be used in themed lessons and to add some humor to my lessons!

I will use surveys as an elementary school science teacher. I will have them take surveys before and after they learn material to see how they have grown. I will give it online, and create it with Google Forms. I will let them see their results so they can analyze their own growth.         Seeing my classmates blogs was a really cool experience! I got to see a lot of their interests in teaching as well as their ideas for their future classroom. I really liked seeing each other's website. It makes me excited to work with other teachers in the future.  I think the tech badges are a great idea! I think it is an awesome way to get extra tokens. I think they are great to help strengthen student's technological skills. I think you should keep these in the class.  The next skill I hope to master is Excel. I have been using it at my new job, and have been watching videos on Youtube to learn. I also have my supervisor helping me! I am excited to see what I learn!

I have enjoyed distance learning this semester. I liked being able to go to class on my own time. I did not like the lack of self-discipline that I needed. I will create a reminder through a phone app to help my students to remember.     Open Education Resources are free resources for teachers to use. This website is a blog on OERs. It has helpful links for teachers to use. I have provided the link below: https://openeducationalresources.pbworks.com/w/page/40988414/OER-blog-posts     I have grown in my Powerpoint skills from the last two assignments. I found ways to make the Powerpoint more interesting such as transitions and animations. I have also found ways to make it into a game, such as Jeopardy. For next time, I can find examples to make my PowerPoints prettier.

I learned how to make a cohesive design on a website. I like that we were able to be creative. I did not like that I could not publish it. I can make a website for a business or school I work for and I could help an organization like a nonprofit as well.      One skill that I learned from Diigo was that I could add things to the class page. I thought it was helpful to use to find great resources. It can be useful to share things with my students and their parents. I also can grow in keeping resources for myself.      Technology Trends I can use this site to be kept up to date on current trends. It would allow me to be able to provide resources for my students. I think technology is important to gain information to better inform my students. I think that by making my students be familiar in school, it will help them to use it in their careers later in life.

I looked at multiple school pages to see the type of information it provided for students and parents. I explored mostly on the Leon High School page, and found a lot of great information. One teacher, Scott Evans, had a brief summary of himself, and a lot of great additional resources for parents and students to use. It also contained a class calendar, which is helpful for parents and students.  Scott Evans (Leon High School)     Technology will be helpful in my long-term career goal of going into full time ministry. I plan to use things like Google Calendar and Google Docs to plan and schedule meetings and events at my job. If I do become a teacher, I think having Tik Tok will be helpful as they have a lot of great information for teachers. I would follow accounts that would give good lesson plans and organization hacks.      I did not like the Wiki platform. It had a lot of issues and we were unable to use it. I would personally not use it with my students. I would try to find
